Thirupurdai Marudhur - TKV Rajan (Raj TV fame) has brought a documentary by the contributions of Justice Rathinavel to this temple. Nellai Dt. Kadaimaruthur.
Since mahalingam does not look like REAL Mahalingam, RR constrtucted PERUVUDAYAR (WHICH IS MAHA LINGAM) - another line of thought.
The Brahamathi is known as CHOZHA BRAHMAHATHI. Written on the Eastern Main entrance as Chozha Brahmahathi. Paintings of Badragiri & Pattinathar are also portraited.
Brahmin Hatham :: Killing of Brahmin was considered greater sin. One of the reasons why Ravidasan & co were not awarded Capital Punishment.
possible they were killed in an encounter - Kandhalur chalai (Vizhignam - a Netherland Shipping Company has funding 2000 Crores to develop this Port now!).
Chozhan Brahmathi - Mahalingam nexus is worth researching..
Where the hunted (by Brahmahathi) turned back was THIRUBUVANAM !
Kulothunga is known as Thirubuvana Chakravarthigal!
Sarabesar - was kind of Mythological Bird - lifted Narasimhar - who could not earth his Fury after Hiranya killing and brought him back to Nornalcy! Sarabeswarar's two wings :: Maha Kali & Prathyankara (Ayyavadi).
Ayyavadi is the place where MEGANATH @ INDIRAJIT S/o Ravana is reportedly performed NIKUMBALA - which was stopped in the middle by Lakshmana!
Present day Politicians are seen often here and Sarabeswarar temple!
Foot note :: Aditha Karikalan gifted a small flower garden to Tvdrmrdr Mahadevar, which was made as Shenbaka thottam by Sembiyammadevi during Uthama period - which was further extended by PANCHAVAN MADEVI during RR's period :: All 3 inscriptions are avl in the temple ! There are descriptions on Dances also. Ref. Dr. Kalaikkovan's Chozhar kaala Aadarkalai also.
though the bramha hatthi is given a form in thiruvidamaruthur
there are other legends in verious temples for example rama himself had to per form rites and penance in rameshwaram to get rid of bramha hathi for killing ravana and family who were grand children of a bramhin saint
unga alavukku enakku innum peru kidaikkavillai poojai abhishekam ellam panradhukku... kuduthu vaichavar neenga.....perukku ethaamaadhiriye irukkenga ..
but r u talking about tirumala - kalahasthi range? i think srisailam is far away from tirumala and continuous chain of mountains between srisailam and tirumala iam not sure...
anyway, i can share with you one thing..
thro some of my contacts, i came to know that during certain period of time certain temples wud get prominence....
i remember visiting tiruvannamalai temple in my childhood... no problems inseeing the god, no queue, no rush absolutely deserted look.. but you know the scenario now.. may be the time has come for tiruvannamalai ...(annamalaikke time aa nnu neenga kekkardhu puriyudhu)
if you are aware there is a temple at Padi, chennai (Tiruvalidhaayam) for tiruvalleeswarar..pala perumaigal petra sthalam.. when i started visiting the temple in late 80's and early nineties i know aboutt he appaling state of the temple... now you come and worship there.. the temple is the most cleanly maintained temple inspite of being in the industrial hub of chennai....things have transformed.. devotees rush money and all coming in..
the grapevine is that Mr unnikrishnan panicker ( aasthana jothidar for leading persons) had visited the temple for "Prashnam" and had said that one day it wud equal tirupathi... the same is the case with the temple at ezhuchur( near padappai on tambaram kancheepuram route)
there is a temple for Lord Murugan at "anuvavi" in coimbatore .. just on the back side of the hill of marudamalai.... the anuvaavi temple has lot of legends associated with that
when hanuman was taking sanjeevamalai to lanka he felt thirst while passing this mountain range.. remembering that Murugan is kurinji thalaivan he prayed to Lord muruga and murugan at once created a sunai for hanuman to quench his thirst.. the sunai is still there
but anuvaavi is not as famous as marudamalai and lot of people inside coimbatore also are not aware of anuvaavi....and the temple of anuvaavi remains like a small village temple inspite of having a big legend to back it
also remember the state of Tiruvaalangaadu temple.. not so encouraging...
so do not worry sir... paramanukku theriyum eppo enna pannanumnnu......
oru naal tiruvidaimarudurum famous aagathaan pogudhu...
Taking of Panchamuka anjeneya swami,a temple recently constructed in Tiruvalur chennai. But the idol here does'nt have a pillayar.
The five faces of Sri Anjaneyaswami are described hereunder.
The face towards the East is Anjaneya Mukha in its original form. This face removes all blemishes of sin and confers Chitta Suddhi.
Sri Karala Ugravira Narasimha Swami, facing the South, removes fear of enemies and confers victory.
The face facing the west is that of Lord Sri Mahavira Garuda and this face drives away evil spells, black magic influences etc., and removes all poisonous effects in one's body.
Sri Lakshmi Varahamurthy facing the North wards off the troubles caused by bad influences of the planets and confers all prosperity-Ashta Aishwarya.
The Urdhva Mukha Facing upwards of Sri Hayagriva Swami confers knowledge, victory, gnana, good wife and progeny. So, there is nothing in the world which doesnot come under any the influence of any of the five faces
The origin of Sri Panchamukha Anjaneya Swami can be traced to a story in the Ramayana.During the war between Lord Rama and Ravana , Ravana took the help of Mahiravana who was the king of pathala.
Anjaneya in order to protect Lord Rama and Lakshmana formed a fortress with his tail. But Mahiravana took the form of Vibeeshana and took Lord Rama and Lakshmana to pathalaloka.Anjaneya entered pathala in search of Rama and Lakshmana. He found out that to kill Mahiravana he had to extinguish 5 lamps at the same time. So he took the Panchamukha form with Anjaneya,Hayagriva,Narasimha,Garuda and Varaha faces and extinguished the lamps.Mahiravana was killed immediately
The Graha Guru is said to bethe provider of Knowledge and power. For shaiveites I think Guru is worshiped as lord dakshinamurthy and for Vaishnavites it is Hayagriva.
I am not sure mayilravanan same as Mahiravana was the son of Ravana,a powerful sorcerer who ruled over the underworld (patala loka). Mahiravana was a great devotee of Goddess Kali from whom he had obtained vital occult secrets. Initially Mahiravana did not wish to join the fight against Rama since he felt the latter's cause to be just. ..May be Mayilravanan is kambar naming of Mahiravana??...regards, Meena.
iam not sure whether mayilravanan or mahiravanan or ayilravanan surface in mainstream ramayanam...
as you know there are lot of ramayanams other than valmiki's and kambar's.. i remember them featuring in someother ramayanam and not in mainstream ramayanam....
