PK, SS & PS - Kalki
  • ************************************************************
  • Krupa,

I completed SS yesterday night(1 mani varaikkum vidama padichi
mudichiten). I too agree with Arun. I liked SS very much for its story
line. But there are few things which I cant accept. One, I go with
krupa, the romantic descriptions are at times quite eloborative and a
couple of times boring too. Probably , I like ss because i read it
recently. I started PS for the second time and left with the last
bagam. But SS being a new story to me, took precedence. I have continue
    PS from where I left.

The other thing I can digest is, If Mahendra was defeated by Pulikesi,
why Kalki has projected that Pulikesi could not defeat Mahendra and
laid a false Vijayastambam in vathapi. History is history and we should
not change it. This is what i didnt like in SS as compared to PS or
PK.If in PS, he handled the situation by makin Senthan amudan Uttama,
thats ok to some extent. But changing history is not acceptable,
atleast to me. Intha edathula Kalki koncham sarikitarnu than naan
solluven. Also, when narasimha's vicotory over vathapi is history,
kalki projects as if only because of Bikshu, Pallavas could win. Again
twisting history, which I didnt like. Bikshu fighting as Pulikesi in
Manimangalam and vathapi are too much.
Otherwise SS is a great story about the war.

    Satish,

Did Kalki write a story book or history book?

Only the historians should not twist the history. But story tellers do not
have such constraints. They have all freedom over their characters.
  • Dear Natarajan,

I disagree. I don't see Sivagami as an "egoist". I think of her as a girl
with spunk, with individuality, with some attitude and oomph. Maybe
traditionally Indian girls are not supposed to be like that. But I prefer
Sivagami to a Vanathi from PS.. all suppliant and coy.. *ugh* made me want
    to puke :p
  • Dear Satish
Pulikesi defeated Pallava forces but couldnt defeat Kanchi in the Muthirai If I am right...
The same lines are repeated by Narasimhan in Kanchi Thalaivan.....movie 'Poi stambham ezhuthivittan Pulikesi'
  • Couldnt agree with you more
