Because of the intimacy we develop during course of discussing PS in our Group, we can freely discuss other topics also with the same members - than in forming an altogether separate Group with different members. Hence suggested formation of PS - Cultural / Current topics / etc.,, name something .. Let us discuss everything in that Sister Group ... Or Let us create such platform... and post Entries to the effect that .. " Calcutta Passenger - not desired ... is posted in PS - Cultural (Movie) forum..."
I totally agree with what you have just mentioned We all get excited about things which we see read and hear and would like to share with others...But are we doing justice in public forum....A good example is the otherday I was hearing about the arrival of the baby of Charles Kennedy the Lib Dem Leader...The Election is on may 5 what happens Tony Blair and Michael Howard extend their congratulations to the proud cuople and that is decorum...I was wodering could this not happen in our home but this was a totally unrealted issue....
The other point is we are diverting the groups attention from iteresting PS related or historic threads and thats the main doom if someone becoming a member goes back a few messages he thinks we only are PS on namesake and leaves....
Thats why I request an alternative platform may be Thamilvalarchi...maybe thamilchamrajiam.....
A close friend of mine is a cartoonist for the Economic Times. He is not a tamilian but I can ask him if he would be interested in coming up with a weekly cartoon strip, based on a script that we can come up with. If you want, I can ask him.
aahahahaaa........rendu moonu naal mail pakkalana evvalavu matrangalaaa? I am very much held up with my work these days and thats the reason for my prolonged silence. Once in a couple of days I just check PS mails alone...when I was going through the mails today, I got confused reading Sri's mail about the topic. I was totally confused ... even thought "loosu ayitena...onnume puriyaliye" then only I checked the messgae numbers and found that they jump about 8-9 mails. I read the mails directly from the yahoogroup site and hence lost the flow. Probably I should check my mail box for the lost mails to see whether the topic is interesting or not.
So we should not discuss anything other than PS or Kalki. Then we have to form a different group for Parthiban kanavu, a different group for Sivagamiyin selvan, a different group for English Literature etc. I cant manage with just one or two groups itself. If I have 100 groups, better I dont want a group at all. I will leave all the group and be at peace. why shoudl we discuss about Mahabalipuram ASI findings in this group. That is also not relevant to PS groups ideology?
I never got a chance to read English literature and even never liked to read it. TO be frank after reading PS 5 years back, I stopped reading any english novel altogether. I kept quite when Priya, Sri and others were discussing about Foresyth or any other english author/ novels. Its matter of choice I make whether to take it or not. If I leave the group because in one mail Sri and Priya were discussing English novels and feel that this group is PS only by nakesake, whose fault it is?
If we should stick to the purpose, we should not even say hi to our collegues, becuase in office we are supposed to only work. We should not talk to our next seat friend, or our team mate, we should not discuss movies cricket etc. at office, should not check personal mails in office, should not use office resource for personal use (PC, printer etc). At office we should work work and only work for 8-12 hours. Are we doing that?
If discussing only PS is the sole purpose of this group, then it will be monotonous. PS kindled historical thirst amoungst us. What happened yesterday is also history. People should be free to discuss things and some xyz, leaving the group for such things should not be taken seriously. If people dont like no one is stopping them to publicly condemn such debates. Only kindergarten kids complain to the teacher secretly. I was under the assumption that PS group has grown up people, but I am surprised to hear that there are still some "kids at heart" characters here. No offence meant, I am trying to say that people should be bold enough to say things openly. If in person, I can be afraid to say something, due to fear of getting beaten up, but through mails, ah....come on give me a break.
Brushing aside facts is easy, facing it is quite difficult. Groups such us PS, should build up that kind of strengh to the people so that they can feel stronger. Why we talk about History, why we talk about RR, only because we feel a sense of strenght in us thinking about RR. If the society is filled with cheap politicians and people who take comman man for a ride, its every individuals responsibility to make others feel strong and face the fact. Without this underlying essense, talking only history is of no use.
Why did Kalki wrote Parthiban Kanavu? only to kindle the patriatic feelign among the people. Why should he talk history, when talking about freedom struggle? If freedom struggle is Kalkis motto, then as per this groups norms, he is a fool to talk about Parthiban and his kanavu in a form of novel. Becuase he should have talked only about freedom and not history.
But things change. We can always learn. I am learning a lot these days. Talking facts is fanatism. Kalki is a fool to have talked about history when his motto was freedom struggle.
New dimension......new thoughts............great............I am learning a lot. quite interesting.
Satish
NB : People who wished the group for tamil puthandu, this is also not the motto of PS group. We should only discuss about PS and should not send personal wishes to others in this public forum. So better change yourselves and dont repeat it again..hahahaaaa...hhhhhh........Just kidding??? Am I? I leave it to you all to guess....
PS on namesake and leaves.... > > Thats why I request an alternative platform may be > Thamilvalarchi...maybe thamilchamrajiam..... > > Thats all I have to say > > Regards > > Sri
