Now the printed book reading slowly going down and scanned or dtp converted pdf reading started with modern electronic equipment. When I checked some groups I found the following url which further leading to download the scanned copy of the story.
It is one way that the story is saved in electronic format. But another disadvantage is the writer and the publication lossing money. Share your views please.
This is an issue which should be tackled at the publisher and author level. I want to buy EITA (Encyclopedia of Indian Temple Architecture) from so long time, the total cost is Rs 52500/-, can you believe this, think how an individual normal buyer can buy such a huge cost book or series.
Many to the reputed historical or architecture books are above Rs 1000/-, and I feel it is quite high. As a reader I never like reading electronic formats though I have all means to read but still I prefer printed books. This issue is similar as faced by musical or film industry. They are also worried about pirated copies but do they ever thought about reducing prices of their DVDs etc. They want to have heavy profits by taking consumer for a ride. A good example of this is the trend set by Moser Baer when they started low price CDs/DVDs and were quite successful.
Just few thoughts from my side as I feel the issue lies with the publishers, if they make prices low, people will surely buy that. Take cue from ASI or Madras University, their books are appropriately priced hence always in demand and out of print.
