The saying `tough times don't last for ever' seems to come true as regards Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay's profession. After facing many hiccoughs and speed bumps in his career in the recent times, Vijay is all set to raise like a phoenix with impressive projects in his kitty. If sources in the industry are to be believed, Vijay will be doing the role of Vandhiya Thevan in the historical project Ponniyin Selvan immortalized by Kalki Krishnamurthy to be directed by director Mani Ratnam. More details on the rest of the cast is awaited.
Beside this, Vijay will also be donning the role of Aamir Khan in Nanban, the Tamil remake of Three Idiots being directed by Shankar. Not only this, Vijay will soon be wrapping up Jeyam Raja's Velayudham where he will be seen romancing Genelia and Hansika. This line up of exciting projects certainly reiterates that Vijay's career is going great guns and here is wishing him all the best!
Somewhere I read that the movie is not the actual ponniyin selvan novel, but a movie with that sayal... like thalapathi being a version of modern karna, ravanan being the modern version of ramayana, similarly this new movie by Mr.MuniRatnam is going to be a modern version of the authentic historic tamil novel ponniyin selvan... So friends don't keep your expectations high.
I just hope Maniratnam does not mess up the movie, with his own agenda and version of socialism/communism. No movie would be able to do justice to the novel, and I am fine with some artistic liberty but hopefully the movie is well made. The last movie of his was horrible.
