Baroda Prince Gaekward befriended Hitler - to ensure Indian Independence
  • A Marathi biography book on Baroda Prince Gaekward is hitting stands next month .. Written by the son of his personal Assistant - it reveals of a secret pact signed between the Prince - in his Capacity as representing other Hindi speaking States Princes - and Hitler !!

    The pact is known as BARODA - BERLIN PACT ... which was signed during Berlin Olympics and was kept secret.

    By this Hitler ensured his support to Indian Freedom (prior to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose !!) and Baroda and other Princely states supported Hitler in WWII !

    Since Gaekward passed away in 1939 itself, this pact was not given effect !!

    there were agreements with tippu and napoleon bonaparte in the similar lines. napoleon planned to invade the canara coast with the help of tipu after his triumphs in egypt. but he could not continue in egypt due to high mortality of soldiers to plague and heat.

    v.o.chidambaram also planned a military campaign against british with the help of the rebels in the princely states of pudukotai, ramnad jameen, trivancore state ...etc. it was one of the reason for his 40 years rigorous imprisonment. however it was reduced to 6 years from the london court of appeal. he had lost all his wealth in the court expenses. he was doing rice merchandise for some time until his licence to practice law was restored. he died broken hearted.

    Are you talking about the recent Bharathi movie where Sayanji Shinde acted
    as Bharathi ? That was directed by Gnanasekaran not Sujatha.
