I'd like to thank all members for the support you have given me, as result of it My mother was there getting a memento from great K Balachandar. Special thanks to SPS sir for letting my parents come and collect the award and also for the hospitality accorded to them in the meet. Also heard a plot by some members to convince my parents to get me married soon ( please guys I want some more time to enjoy!).
Thiru- the man behind the web pages of PSVP and Poetry in Stone did not allow me to publish his photo - he was honoured among the Poetry in Stone team, but Thiru's kind rule banning my photo had to be accepted, so that's why you don't see him over there in the collection.
Dear All Thanks a lot for your recognisation. The work is a compilation of various article and the credit goes to those people.- The current spell of travel ends on 28th and held up. Once again thanks you all .
Dear REACH Chandra, I've taken the liberty to edit your report, is that ok? Hope I understood it all correctly. Change, if needed.
As you know, I'm really 'into' the visuals, and would like to do all I can to create a large image database of all the best murthis from all over TN. [actually all-India] Just say the word. We may need permission of many orgs. holding copyrights to many of the photographs. The American Institute of Indian Studies has done a wonderful job, but doesn't seem to be aware of all ancient temples.
SUNDAY, JUNE 20, 2010 Tamil Heritage wardens meet on 20th June 2010
Sundar Bharadwaj, aka SPS (SivaPathaSekaran) of Ponniyin Selvan Varalatru Peravai (PSVP), conducted a get-together for all like-minded personalities from India & abroad, before scholars left for the Coimbatore conference conducted by the TamilNadu Govt.
Many issues have not been really covered by the symposiums, & such conferences:
Digitization: bringing all Tamil heritage-related publications and available documents, voices, videos under one umbrella Tamil Heritage Foundation, the building heritage conservators & those who take temple architecture and the appreciation of its art & inscriptions to the common man -
REACH Foundation, Professor Swaminathan & NHM (New Horizon Media), & Kizakku Padippagam media man Badri's Tamil Heritage Forum, Prakrithi foundation, Indian Science monitor.
Mr. TKV Rajan, historian Dr. Chitra Madhavan, Dr. Kalyan of 'Project Madurai' fame; ASI archaeologist, P.S. Sriraman; Sidda Heritage practitioners; Siddars, and heritage-lovers, met for a brain- storming & strategy discussion about how to bring our efforts together to build synergy. The introduction of all groups was fantastic, and Ponniyin Selvan was the inspiration. This story has made many realities work, like Poetry in stone, run by Vijay & his team [guess I'm on his team], REACH foundation, initially started by bunch of youths, later guided to form a foundation headed by renowned archaeologist, Dr T Satymurthy. It was he who worked on Adichanallur, most ancient site of Tamil culture so far unearthed, the Sangam-age Murugan temple near Tiger Caves, Mamallapuram Road, now bringing out the most ancient Pallava temple at Veppathur near Kumbakonam.
Ironically such scholars weren't even invited by the Tamil Semmozhi conference (---a difficult subject to discuss --- this is this blogger, Chandra's, personal view, not to offend anyone concerned),
and to top it off, the THF founders: Dr N. Kannan & Subashini Tremmel, who were present, shared their vision to the heritage wardens of Chennai. The Sidda medical Palm Leaf donors spoke on ancient science and medicine: their values and the unfolded secrets are now being digitized, to usher in new light on the world's oldest, time-tested medicine of Tamil-land. A true Siddar, presented himself in this forum today, and showered blessings upon all the voluntary work being done by the above-said groups.
Any omissions in this fast news-flash of the function, just happened this morning, is not intentional and those attending who were neglected, please bring this to our attention by emailing: reach.aasai@gmail.com The pictures are here for you to see
Dear Kathie, If I say NO to a Sivadasi, I would be the biggest sinner on earth. It is all yours and rather ours. Please do the needful changes, so that the whole world has better image on India, not a country of snake charmers and black magicians :) Chandra
