    What is the correct word for this vilakku.

    We now call it Nanda Vilakku but the mentioned as Nonda or Nunda vilakku in books on epigrahs.

    Nandha is the correct form (Meaning anaiya deepam). Nundha and Nondha are corruptions which we find in epigraphs

    Madurai is mentioned as Madirai in many inscriptions
