AVANI GANDARVA ISWARA GRIHAM - KILAIYUR in MELA PAZHUVUR
  • Dear Katherine,

    Got this clarified.

    KEEZHAPAZHUVUR :: The " T " road junction area.

    One road leads to Gangaikonda cholapuram towards east.
    One road lead to Trichy towards west.
    Third Road towards Thiruvaiyaru Thanjai.

    MELAPPAZHUVUR :: 3 KMS WEST OF KEEZHAPPAVUR on the Trichy Road.

    ON THE MAIN ROAD itself the Temple Avani Gandharva iswara Griham - which was brought under State Archeology monument by Dr. nagaswamy - which we saw together last Nov, which is the subject of discussion here - which SRB has described and you highlighted - is located.

    THIS PLACE IS KNOWN AS KEEZHAIYUR being the Eastern border of Melappazhuvur.

    Another one KM farther down, in MELAPPAZHUVUR there is another ancient Siva temple.

    Yeah... There are 3 sites. Kilappazhuvur - Melappazhuvur and in-between Keezhaiyur.

    Will post the inscriptions re Avani Gandharva iswara griham next week.

    warm regards/ sps
