    Time : Working Days : 2.30 P.M. to 8.30 P.M.
    Holidays : 11.00 A.M to 8.30 P.M. (Including Satruday & Sunday)
  • why dont we have a ps meet on one of the saturdays on the book fair.
    when it was held in mountroad arts our group members used to spend an afternoon there browsing

  • Why did they change the dates? Generally it will end along with
    Pongal...Mostly it will be a day out of many chennaivasis on Bogi...
    Thats when they get the max crowd. If they are missing Bogi, they are going
    to miss a considerable crowd too....

    pongal trade fair @ island grounds?? periya appalam, panju mittaai, ranga
    rattanam, toy rail, karumbu juice, cheap books, plastic vegetable peeler,
    soap bubble blowers....corporation of madras stall, police stall etc etc

  • Dear Kathie - for your benefit -
    Periya appalam - large pappad (you are probably familiar with pappad as a common indian snack, if not i'd be happy to send you a sample :)
    panju mittai - cotton candy
    ranga rattinam - wooden ferris wheel
    karumbu juice - sugar cane juice
    molaga bajji - chili pepper fritters
    pani puri/bhel poori - northern indian snacks

    Except for the last one the rest were common occurences in fairs of olden times and as kids used to be the greatest thing ever for those of us who grew up then!! Of course none of these things can compete with today's IPOd generation..those were for simpler days :)
