I am a relative of the Artist Silpi. He is my grandfathers elder brother. I have a collection of some of his drawings and i dont mind sharing his work with people who would really treasure it or would use it for worship purpose.
I donot know where to post it or where to reply.Do let me know and in case any of you people have any of his work please post it across to this email address.Do let it be mutual. Please send it across even if they are line drawings.
Hi Venkat, I have some treasured paintings from the thodar titled 'thennattu selvangal' from Ananta Vikatan of 50s. I don't know if it is copyrighted by AV. If not I can send scans to you, sometime later, as the book is at my home in India.
Thiru Silpi is a gifted artist and noble to share his talent for a higher cause.
The work is no doubt copyrighted, but what i am trying to do is just preserve his work for another generation to see.So when we are exchanging these works of his it is better to use the personal email services rather than the public domain like this blog. Please mail me from your personal email id's and i will reply to those.
SILPI's PENCIL DRAWINGs (sketches ? ) ALONE serve as RECORDS related to certain Tample details !!
We have been discussing a lot on drawings / paintings ..
A detailed review on the expression of the mankind from time immemorial to our Chittannavasal - Ajantha - Pallava - chozha - Moghul paintings through the Great Aritist Silpi - will be very much useful for handy reference.
Very nice to hear many interested people looking for Artist Silpi's Paintings.
The Artist Silpi Blog is indirectly supported by the artist son Mr.Mahalingam. All the paintings posted in the blog are taken from him and approved by the Artist Direct Family.
Artist Son Mr Mahalingam is also promoting the work of his father for more than 15 years now. He has taken this work so that the works of the artist are preserved for the years to come. The works are right now being promoted in the form of Calenders, Greeting Cards, Packet Pictures, wall hanging, Paneling (of various size ) , collection of different gods and goddess for Poja room etc., and in many other forms as far as i know. The work is done with a sole intention of making the gods ,goddess and the line drawings to reach as many homes as possible as per the wish of Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Chandrasekarendra swamigal and also by the artist himself.
I too agree that the copyright needs to be protected. The email id of Artist Silpi's son is silpi.mahalingam@yahoo.co.in
