About Rarajan Pallipadai :: Annaul Epigraphy Report
  • Dear Vijay,

posting a sample related to Annual Epigraphy Report::
  • Why cant the big temple be the "Pallipadai" temple?
  • or one of its sorrounding temples?
  • Good,

    1) RR didn't buid that as Pallipadai

    2) and RJ didn't show any great attention to that temple

    3) After RJ the focus has changed

  • I guess very few people have a control in deciding their own
    pallipadai
but then anybody would know rrc would have preferred to rest
    somewhere close to big temple

    and...

could that explain why the temple was almost abandoned after rrc
given the negative connotation of pallipadai temples( remember we saw
the word pallipadai erased in panchavan madevi pallipadai by somebody)

  • Why did the cholas that came after RRC neglect the BT?
Afterall, the BT is really the biggest temple ever
    built by the cholas .

Unless RJC had such a conflict or disrespect for his
father, I dont see any reason why he would abandon the
BT. He might have had the urge to build his own temple
but even that doesnt demand the abandoning of the
    BT...
  • -yes indeed
as kalki says pallipadai temples were neglected and became engulfed
    by forests?
the chola kings did not think twice about equating themselves with
the divine.{there will always a doubt which name came first rajaraja
    or rajarajeshwaram. who gave the name to whom?}
the more we think of it the more it makes it possible
v.k is on the bulls eye.
if not the main temple one of the surrounding temples would have been
the preferred choice for rrc's pallipadai.
we should look closely at rjc's edicts to find a clue.

raja raja the king or rajarajeshwara the shivalinga
