    Hope it is useful.
  • Folks: I just got the Ponniyin Selvan series in
english today. Can't wait to get wrapped in Kalki's
world. So far I heard the stories from my folks at
    home....YAHOO
  • Hi,

just wondering, why do you want to read Ponniyin Selvan in english???
  • Hi Siva,
I haven't learnt to read and write tamil as yet. I was
born and brought up in Bangalore and by default picked
up Kannada. However, my folks are tamil and they read
a lot. I guess I got pampered because a lot was read
out to me....now I am learning to read tamil, more so
because we have the Ponniyin Selvan in Tamil.
  • Hi Madan,

  • Hi Deepa,

Really, if you are not reading PS in tamil you are losing certain mesmerizing essence of
Kalki's writing. I strongly suggest you to try it in tamil once.
  • Hi Siva,
I will definetly read the tamil version too. My mama
read and collected the book from the Kalki magazine
for years and had it bound.
  • Is there a mention of the "Nakshatrams" of the kings
from the Chola, Pallava, Pandya dynasty anyplace?
  • Thats sad... maybe get somebody to read it out from tamil for you?

Am sorry that I said that... it never stuck me that you maynot be able to
    read tamil.
  • Hey thats ok - it's an incentive to learn tamil. Every
time I go to the temples down south I am always asking
Appa and Amma to read out from the walls.

My friend is giving me my first lesson this week-end.

    Thanks man
  • -Hi
this deepa episode if I may call it so, stresses that the real need
of the hour is an audio version of Ps. is there one already ?

    gutenberg gives out audio books.

its much more cheaper and well within our reach. we need volunteers
for only voices. some computer wiz kid can set up a mike and there we
go. a chapter or two a week.

volunteers please note the role of ravithasan has already been taken
up( though rahul wants trisha like a heroine or is it villi?)
  • Great Idea Ventakesh,
If we group up and do a sound reading in a
professional recording studio it'd be great. We have
to do it in tamil and can have some good music in the
    background.

Just imagine the people to whome we can reach the joy
    and peace of PS.

    What say group?
  • Great Idea Venketesh...

I will do the job of Poonguzhali.........:))

Let us make this happen. Would love to listen PS over the headphones.
  • Dear Venkat
It was a graet idea which was discussed last year and for some reason abandoned
I have started doing it and have done almost most of first volume I was going to let you guys know once it was completed
  • Dear Venkat,
Audio Version is a MUST ! Need of the hour as you rightly said.

    Dear Sri,
Nice to know that you are the forerunner.
Hoping to hear more on this.

Re RRC Pallipadai - there are messages in our Group posted earlier and
also in www.varalaaru.com. Pls check Mr. Muhilan.

Dear Gokul, Thanks for the informative links.

  • Guy, Seri Audio version is needed, how are you
planning to go about the entire thing? Do we ask a
studio? Do we all meet and decide who gets to read
what? Train voices? Work on Funding?
