"bragada"
  • dear SPS

could you please explain what this word "bragada"means?

when the amman Bragadambal/brihanaayaki was installed and named in big
    temple?

is their any other goddess in tamilnadu with that name.

is there any connection between bragadambal of kokarneshwarar and big
    temple.

(the first amman kaasu carrying (bragadambal's image) of the
thondaimans was minted in early 1700s. so she must have been their
family goddess for quite some time.

there could be a connection because after all kodumbalur gave rrc his
wife ( and most probably the stones for his temple)
  • ' Brihat', means big, huge etc..

Brihataranyaka upanishad, means big forest upanishad. So, 'Brihat eshwara', became 'Peru udaiyar'. Hence "Brihat Naayaki' became, 'Brihanaayaki', so 'Big Goddess', meaning Powerful goddess, etc..
