SUBRAMANIA BHARATHI
  • sir,

to my knowledge bharathi did not tak of sethu samudhram.. it was

    "sethuvai meduruthi veedhi samaippom"...

sir, very surprising that you accepted somebody as "our queen
whatever said and done".. engirundhu vandhadhu sir indha thought
    ungalukku????

may be bharathi avaroda ganja influence la ippadi ezhudhirukkalaam..
    who knows...

as us said, there is nothing new in he talking about india including
pak. pak was an integral part of india and it is very natural for him
to think about india which includes current pak..

had bharathi thought about unified india like what our
akandabharatheeya's think and talk about now, then it is
    commendable....

the info about japanese soldiers is news to me sir..

when you talk about resurgence of chola empire from pallava's etc.,
you praise those revolutionaries / warriors.

imagine had those chola accepted pallavas as their kings, do you
think the very idea of overthrowing them would have arisen in them???

    strange sir!!!

vandarai varaverkkalaam if they have real good intentions.. but when
they do not have, doyou think varaverppadhu is a virtue??

this wales ilavarasar case might be an indication that "subrahmani
    kkum adi sarukkum.."
  • Hi Diwakar,

Have you read that poem? Please read it once again before we
start. It is not a poem PRAISING the prince, it is just welcome
note. And a welcome note cannot just contain the word "Welcome."

Why should he do it when he does not like being ruled by
them? A correct question. To get an answer, sarithirathin
pakkangalai konjam puratti paarkkanum. You have to analyze the
circumstances. If I scold you "loosu!" when you scold me, you
have to analyze why I say that rather than what I think of you.

It was believed by congress party and some leaders that the
arrival of Prince of Wales would benefit India in some way...
could be some step toward freedom. Sudesa Mithran and its
editor Bharathiyar also thought on the same line. He wrote one
essay also in Chakravardhini regarding his arrival.

Ganja influence-la aasiriyappaa ezhudha nee venumnaa try panni
    paaruppa. ennaala nichayamaa mudiyaadhu.

It is simple to bash Ravindranath, Bharathiyar, etc. on why they
England Queen, Wales Prince... but as a true citizen of India we
do have the responsibility to find out why they wrote in those
lines. We may not believe our leaders, but we must believe our
    freedom fighters.

  • sir,

sethu road periya matter kidaiyaadhu sir...

pallam thondinaa "sethu kaalvaai"... mannai kondu roppinaa "sethu
    veedhi"...

bharathi oru mahakavi mattum illai sir.. sirumai kandu pongiyavan sir
(adhu paapaakku mattum illai sir)..appadi irukka, howcome he welcomes
    wales prince???

aanghileya ekaadhpadhyathoda aani vera acceptance of queen or
acceptance of their rule over us.. ekaadhipadhyathai verodu azhikka
munaipattavan eppadi sir queen ai accept pannuvaan... logic puriyalai
    sir..

vandhaarai vaazhavaikkum tamizhagam, varaverkkum tamizhagam ellaam
summa sir... nammai naame saanthi paduthikaradhukku sollum sappai
    kattu sir..

he is an icon.. but at the same time he too is a human with
shortcomings.. why dont we accept that??

bharathi indha ulagathai uyarndha peedathilirundhu kondu
paarkkalaam.. aanaal it doesnt mean that he doesnt have
shortcomings!!! chellamaa vai ketta kadhai kadhaiyaa solluvaanga laa
    irukkum...

bharathi ganja issue.. this is also same thing... let us accept the
fact as fact.. when Nehru's connection with lady mt.batton can be
said in the forum why not bharathi's ganja???

remember the scene in "bharathi" movie.. there is a scene which
    depitcts bharathi admitting his habit..

Vivekanda too had a "hooka" habit.. it is clearly mentioned in all
the books i read about him....

some say vivekananda died of that habit and some say that his chest
burst when he was bringing up kundalini...

regarding black spot on white board .. all is fine..

by ignoring blackspot on whiteboard we are ignoring fact.. we are
unwilling to accept the reality... fact is a fact.. let fact
    prevail...

Yes, concentrating on the white board is a positive attitude.. but
at the same time ignoring the fact that there is a black spot is
    sheer escapism..

what i try to say is that accept there is black spot.. concentrating
on that or not is different...

training to just see the white spot alone is like making a mockery of
ourselves.... nothing can flourish in the society if everything is
    looked at from the angle...

nobody disputes the stature of subrahmanya bharathi.. nobody ....

i named my uncle's son as "aravind bharathi".. pls understand sir...

but at the same time why dont we also see him as a human being with
    shorcomings..

    afterall kurai illadha manidhan yaaru???
  • A good thread indeed. I didnt react to dhiwakars comment, because i
wanted to get some reference before i reply, but I could not trace
that. Mr.Harikrihsnan (Marabilakkiyam fame, author of 'Anuman:
vaarpum vanappum, kizhakku pathipagam) is a hardcore fanatic of
Bharathi. Dhiwakar mattum avar kayila kedachan...mavane gali..

But what Dhiwakar says is also true. But for the 'Prince of Wales'
poem I remember reading an explanation from Mr.Hari. I was searching
for that but couldnt trace it. WIll do as soon as i get it.
Visit www.harimozhi.com where you can find lots of Mr.Hari's
articles on Bharathi. Though I had a great respect for Bharathi
earlier, after I read Mr.Hari's writings on Bharathi, I started
    loving him more.
He is really a fabulous poet, mahagnani.

But as Dhiwakar says, lets accept the fact that he was a ganja
addict. after all he was also human, with his own shortcomings. But
his guts and glory...no one can match..but its a bane that outside
    TamilNadu he is unknown.
