Dear Poornima interesting comparison I know SPS said no logics but maybe there is logic Jesus lived on and fathered a child has been a age old conspiracy theory
There is a sect in Kashmir who believe they are descendends of Jesus it is referenced in Rushdies Midnights Children
Another school of thought is Jesus learned hinduism and sanathana dharma and all the tricks from Indian Yogis and Siddars in his lost years and went back to preach them which his followers then called christianity
He survived the crucification because he had learned Suspended animation from them
countless theories...
With all due respect to the roman catholic church having had all my education in them they did manupilate the religeon to their advanatage and mostr of the gory details he describes in the book actually took place
the Movie...Yes has had a great deal of media attention in India but not very impressive Hanks' get up doesnt match Langdons description a few charectora have been assasinated like Bezu Fache and Collet and Aringarosa Fache in the movie is convinced Langdon is the culprit because an opus dei bishop rang and told him so( Fache is opus dei in the movie) Collet is always fighting and dissagreeing with Fache
the only impressive choice is Silas he was great second a few of the riddles and puzzles were deleted
Thanks :) that was reassuring. I knew Hanks wouldn't do well in that character.. And Sphie Neveu could had been much younger. I was so upset the movie didnt get released in Chennai.. but looks like its okay after readng your comments :D
The NG Documentary also mentions that Jesus travelled to India to study with the Buddha. There are many gaps, many things we don't know about Jesus.
Yes undoubtedly the book was pulp in many ways. In fact like Venkat said some parts were copied, i mean pulp english fiction so piggy backs on one another, it is really hard to say who copied from whom and sometimes what.
The part about Da Vinci's painting and code was relatively well researched. Meaning it was a possibility that he was married, one that many progressive christians admit to even without the Da Vinci Code.
hi, Venketesh, Yes, a slight time gap . . . There's an Issa Dargah somewhere in JK, anyone know where ? I have a friend who very much believes that that's Jesus's tomb, and that Mary died on the trip east, buried somewhere in Persia or Pak.
there was another book if i remember right which mentions both jesus and kashmir in the title. the posibility was there. one of the magi was from india wasnt he? and if you track the passages of the apostles one came to chenni st. thomas or doubting thomas died very close to chennai airport and was buried in various places in chennai for several hundred years. his remains were taken to syria later.
Yes indeed. ad the word pharisees is quite often used in literature surrounding the bible. there was a fascinating piece of fiction that i read in the readers digest way back. i think it was called the 4th magi or the last magi. its about a 4th guy who also starts but cant reach bethlehem in time. his journey ends when he see christ crucified 30 years later.
yes, Venketesh, I think you all should read 'Gift of the Magi'. Its irony has a real Indian 'feel' to it, don't you agree? Sort of like the 'transposed heads'. Kathie
Hi kathie not many here need to read it. that type of sacrifice has been copied a hundred times in indian movies. one scene i can immidietly think of is surya vamsam tamil movie sometimes the life of the writer is more fascinating than the stories he creates. just so with o. henry.
Gift of the Magi is a heartwarming, evergreen tale. Pete's Tavern in NYC, where the author wrote it (or got the idea) is a nice place (pub) to visit if you are an O Henry fan.
We did discuss these things in the past too..i could not read the entire hamsa.org site,(too lenghty for my patience :))
Regarding the Tomb of jesus, I am not sure whether it was Swetha who provided such links... On the Santhome church / St.Thomas visit to India - we analyzed it in detail, say around a year and half back?? If I remember correct, it was during the time, the catedral was renovated and during renovation the history was cemented for ever.... that the Santhome church was built over the original Kapali temple after destroying the temple... Arunagiri's songs stand proof to the fact that Kapali temple was very near the beach... Dr.Nagasami read the Kalvetu at the basement of Santhome Church and deciphered that a jain and a siva temple were at that place before the church...
