Dear all This is one of the images I found when I did a google search on RRC in the images section and the author of the website claims its RRC crowned by Siva himself In Venkaiyin Mainthan Akilan claims the Sirpi creats a similar image where Siva crowns chandikeswaran and the images is done as a spliting image of RJC Is this that image can anyone through some light
I think this is in GKC. And I too think this is the image which is being described as RJC in Vengayin mainthan. So this cannot be RRC but RJC...hmm.. naan ethuvum sollalappaa...(i am not telling anything)
> Yes, this picture from GKC. Siva crowns chandikeswaran.. not shiva crowns > RJC..
Two famous myths were propounded almost 20 - 25 years ago without any basis and both of them refuse to die.
One is the famous karuvoor thevar - rajaraja painting. I don't think any scholar has the power to kill it.
The second - which I thought had died - but seems to have been living - is this Gangai konda cholapuram sculpture - in which, some claim that visara dharumar was modelled after rajaraja.
This fantastic sculpture shows visaara dharumar being bestowed chandeesa padham - a position or post to audit the assets in shiva temple. Shiva himself gives this post to him.
Both these theories were propositions without any basis - just like the shadow of Srivimana of big temple.
Those who were fortunate enough to visit the saantharam passage of raajarajeswaram can view the paintings and take their own conclusions as to how a typical chola king - who has attained shiva deeksha - of rr times would have looked like.
A good specimen to begin is cheeraman perumal - who was also a king, albeit chera.
Dear Gokul interesting myth but why would the Architect make a model of RRC in the temple built by RJC even if it was myth it should claim it was the later really isnt it

You are right. One group is claiming that it is RJC :-) No basis at all.
