Hi, I thinkthese kind of evidences we will find in many of the literature of India, as I assume that basis of all of these is Ramayana. However the real evidence would be an archaeological finding, if can be found. We all respect our epics, however whether those things happened in real is a very tough question to be answered.
I think all this was started over the issue of a bridge to be constructed at the supposed site of Ramasetu or Adam's bridge. A similar issue exist at Ayodhya where people say that the present mosque was raised on the site of Ram Temple, however the archaeological findings does not support such a temple existing before. Now whether the findings are biased, I am not sure of it as such issues are very very communal in nature and can do unintentional damage.
Intersting to know Snagam has ram setu mentioned in it. I would really like to read the poem. Please can you tell me the exact poems...would love to read the original.
Hasty generalization, sir. Radiographic imaging indicates remnants of a temple underground. Digging and investigation at the site is prohibited by court order. But documentary evidence is available for the existence of a temple, which was demolished for building a mosque. All the secular parties are against archeological investigation. We have to wait for the judgement which may never come!! As we have taken the court route, any discussion should be restricted to documents submitted. Better not to discuss this sensitive issue. Sampath
Dear Sir, I disagree with you that the discussion should be stopped as this is a sensitive issue. I am as much Hindu as you are and I am as much proud of my country as you would be. However I do not believe on thingswhich are said without anysubstantial support. My comments on Ayodhya were based upon a book, "Ayodhya - Archaeology After Demolotion by D. Mandal, edited by Romila Thapar and published by Orient Longman, ISBN - 8125023445. In this book, questions are raised over the excavation done by BB Lal and the techniques used by him. BB Lal is a very eminent ASI personnel, however when I read this book I started believing what is said in it. Now it could be wrong or right, I have no idea of this as of nowso this needs proper discussion over the various aspects. Now if we can discuss and come to a conclusion, nothing better than this. This will correct my doubts as well.
Wth all respect to Romila Thappar and Mr Mandal Now the whole issue is dvided nto two goups.-One a Known Right wing and another Known left/western wing. Unless a jont excavation wth clear Scope defined - will help to solve. i thnk in allpracticalpurpose the isue is over.. But i read portons in frontlne - and felt it is very biased.
I dont think you want an excavation :-) Let it remain a belief and a controversy... there is ton of tourism and spiritual and political mileage & $ involved.... an excavation could be like making biryani of the golden goose!!!
