    eNNum polzudhu eLidhu eydha nalgaay! elzudhaa maRaiyum
    viNNum puviyum punalum kanalum venggaalum, anbar
    kaNNum karuththum niRaindhaay! sakala-kalaa-valliyE!

    O Sakalakalaavalli! You manifest yourself fully in the sky, earth,
    water, fire, wind, the Vedas, the eyes, and thoughts of your devotees.
    Bless me so that, as and when I desire, I can attain easily the music
    of the three Tamils, dance, education, and sweet poetry.

    Those in service of You, render the delicious milk of Artistic Tamil.
    The Hamsa Swan is capable of taking the essence of milk separately
    from the watery part of milk. You are that Divine Female Hamsa which
    can purify that delicious milk of artistic Tamil, O Sakalakalaavalli!
    Bless me that the song and its meaning and the resultant boons
    therefrom may be bestowed unto me with the look from the corner of
    your eye.

    Because it was impossible for Lakshmi Who is seated upon a lotus, You
    bestow knowledge and education and You are the fruit of that great
    wealth, O Sakalakalaavalli! Give me excellent ability of speech,
    polysynthesia, and sholastic ability to teach and thus redeem me.

    kaRkum padhaam-puyaththaaLE! sakala-kalaa-valliyE!

    The female elephant royale possesses a trunk that would touch the
    ground. Such an elephant has a graceful gait. The royal swan also has
    a graceful gait. You walk with a gait that would shame them. O
    Sakalkalaavalli! You possess lotus-like feet.
    The life of the word and and its meaning is the true wisdom. You are
    the very visible manifestation of that life. Whoever is the masterful
    person who could think of you?

    paN-kaNda aLavil, paNiyach- ceyvaay! padaippOn mudhalaam
    viN-kaNda dheyvam pal-kOdi uNdEnum, viLambil un-pOl
    kaN-kaNda dheyvam uLadhO? sakala-kalaa-valliyE!

    There are many tens of millions of gods like Brahma; yet is there one
    like You who is a ever-visible deity? O Sakalakalaavalli! The kings
    rule over the earth, being seated under their royal parasols. Let them
    be sudued before me as soon as they hear my verses.
