almost all of us can contribute details to be included in the site. (please post everything in folder website- big temple website).
final choice of materiel can be done by sri, sps, and gokul( the core group) and from there you could allot to us the writing work. we need a group to collect photos too.
editing comes there and finally the materiel is handed to the technical group.amar can co ordinate that.
Honestly speaking I'm not a pro when it comes to websites and stuff.I'll be glad if Vijay Veerasamy,Aravind Valliappan and whatshisname(forgot his name) form the core of the technical group.

I have a small suggestion too : Can we have a forum on the website.We could, after the site is setup, use that forum to interact.
I think we must contact IGCA in Delhi for high-res quality pictures of Big Temple murals.They have excellent shots, but we need to contact them for high-resolution pix, besides there are copyright issues.I sent a mail, but there has been no response thus far.

Why not interact here itself ? Managing 2 forums is a big task as ps- varalaaru proved it

I have already got in touch with them. Very responsible guys but they charge you like a hell. Do not worry about this for the moment. let us gather what we already have and organize the stuff
I believe in collective work and individual contribution. You can't wait for registering the domain because it is open to the whole world. Anytime it might be lost. It is our luck, god bless that we secured this domain.
I think CHOLATEMPLES.COM is still open. Anytime it may gets registered. I would request our friends to take care of the CHOLATEMPLES.COM.

Dear Vijay I really appreciate your effort and blocking the domain name.There are times when we have to be procative than procastinating... Unfortunately its a Indian trait...We plan about something to useful in 5 years for 2 years and complete it in 8 years by then its already outdated and not useful... I personally think Bigtemple.com is a must If the group as a whole had chosed to have big temple as a also ran then I would have done it personally(thankfully we havea 77% favouring bigtemple.com)
As for as the ownership and who controls it its a moot point to me as long as we all agree what goes in there and project what we want to project to the world besat Choal Art,Heritage and Tamil Culture...
Amar we will never get a consensus on anything but you have to grab the reins and lead thats what happened with Varalaaru.....
So I think you guys should just get going and move forward...

We have another volunteer in the form of a close friend of mine from New Delhi who has promised to provide webspace from the space he already has.
He already runs a plethora of websites.I'm given to understand that he could spare as much space as we require for the site and that he has no monthly bandwidth limit.
His server supports all kinds of languages/scripts like php,sql and all.
Besides, he is offering it for FREE. He is a tamilian, although born and brought up in N.Delhi.
If we all agree and there is explicit consensus,we could host the site on his server.
bigtemple.com is blocked already years ago and currently owned by somebody. Not sure whether we able to retain that in future. We can try. Cholatemples.com still open and can be booked at godaddy.com.
Ownership:
Ownership of the domain is very important. It should be registered on a organisation/trust and so as PSVP. Nobody can claim ownership at anytime but the board can. I will arrange the transfer asap.
Webspace:
There is a default webspace available with the domain at godaddy.com. We can put the home page in it for a while. Again this should be completely owned by PSVP.
Further we have a dedicated Redhat Linux server is running in UK. If its ok for PSVP then I can arrange that. Other best alternative is brand new hosting solution account on PSVP name.

thebigtemple.com is already has webspace in it for 10 GB & 100 GB bandwidth/year and 100 email accounts on redhat linux server from godaddy.com.
Krupa already started exploring Mysource Matrix content management system. If we all agreed and go for that, we need postgresql database. This is very important.

So can you get further details whether your friends his server is dedicated one or shared etc.
We can decide which one is suitable and go for it.
Unfortunately mysource matrix requires php installed in the system along with the GD libarary. I did not have PEAR modules, but installed it. To install the GD, I have to reinstall php with GD support, which I am not in a position to. I have to reinstall IIS if I reisntall PHP...so skipping it for some time. Lets test it after it is installed on the server itself.
PHP is no problem for me, I am comfortable with PHP.
