N A M E S - parthasarathy
  • This reminds me of one of the incidents. One of my long time friend
had never visited Thiruvellikeni, Parthasarathy (Paacha) temple. He
has heard a lot about his moustache, and he was longing to see it.

We both went to the temple, I guess, in month of Jan-Feb, if I
remember correctly. During that time, `Paacha', gives a neatly clean
shaven face to his devotees. It was quite disappointing.

So even god's disappoints or surprises.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • also another intersting story regarding Paacha...

if you go in the month of Karthigai and Margazhi paacha will not
only have Moustache but also have beard and would be wearing a
    Maalai....

after directly enquiring with Him he told me

"Dhiwakar saami... naan sabarimalaikku maalai pottirukken.."

".. kaarthigai maasam maalai anindhu nerthiyaagave viradham
    irundhu..paarthasaarathy maindhane unnai paarkkavendiye
    thavamirundhen...."

veeramani paadina andha paattu dhaan gnapagam varudhu...
  • Thats amazing!

The mustache of Perumal is a part of Him unlike the thirunamam at
Tirupathi. Then how did u see a clean shaven face?

    swetha
  • I guess, it is some 'Seva' at this part of the year. And he is like
    this for few days.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • Hope none of you have gone to the thirumanjanam of sri
parthasarathy ( to be specific Venkatakrishan).

Actually the idol doesnt have a "meesai" its drawn
using karpooram after every thirumanjam / daily
alangaram, to stad for the name "Partha-sarathy" as
    the charriot driver
of arjuna he has a meesai.

No-vaishnavic idols will have a meesai, also no
srivaishnavite should. Those who hav been blessed to
live near the temple and visit routinely knows this
    very well.
  • Dear Parthan
is it true that the idol of parthasarathy has scars , that the divine
charioteer sustained during the mahabaratha war?
people say if you can get close enough you can see them
  • Yes.

They say, when Bhishma, commanding the Kaurava toops, he was very
ferocious and arrows started to attack Arjuna, before he could
return them on his Kandeepam. So Krishna, to save his friend,
Brother-in-law and Devotee, took many arrows on to himself. He is
deathless, as long as you dont hit him on his 'Kaal Kattaiviral'. So
there are many marks on his body, that represents the gifts of
    Bhishma to Krishna.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • what is this kaal katta viral business?
    krishna's achilles heel?
his weak point where you could hit him.

i always thought dury yothana's tale of invinciblilty ( gandhari
opening her blind fold once)was the indian equivalent of achilles of
    homer.

  • I have come across people, practising 'Kayakalpam' from Vedhatri
Maharishi Institutes. Is there any link between that Kayakalpam
practice and on the part where life rests?

Any members of SKY in this group?

  • Rajendra cholan avargale...

we can discuss that topic individually coz i know some details and
also want to know some more details on this.....

i think the group would not be the right forum to discuss this...

  • Another narration, is Yashodha, will make Kutti Krishna bath in
Yamuna, and there is a 'Ashariri', that says, which so ever parts of
Krishna's body immersed in water, will act as Kavacham and the part
that untouched by water, will be his point of death.

Yashoda, will hold Krishna by his Kaal KAttai viral and make him go
down the waters of Yamuna. So this part becamse his point of death.

I think, nearing Gokulashtami/Srijayanthi, we are unintentioanlly
    discussing about this culprit.
