Just read in the Indian express supplement that 'Ponniyin selvan' is being made into a TV mega serial with a huge budget. They are expecting that this will take the television world by storm. Some of the casting includes Cine-actress Mohini (do you remember her?) as kundavai, Jayasri(who is this, just given as a VJ in vijay TV) as Nanthini and Senthil as Alwarkkadiyan. There was a photo also of someone looking like Vanthiyathevan talking to Senthil's Alwarkkadiyan. Do any of you have any information on this?. When this travesty is to take place in our homes and which channel is going for it etc?. I read it in the city express supplement of the Chennai edition and couldn't locate it in the web.
Uh! If PS is directed as a mega serial, they should cast gud personalities for the characters. Not that secondary actors / actress can d. If the top stars knows aout this, surely they WILL act in serial too.
My suggestion is to make this serial (if they are making) into a MEGA serial, rather than a normal serial.

It would be better if they do animation movie of ps(like pandavas by penta media) with maniyam's paintings ... but again nothing can ultimately can beat joy of reading....
you are 100 percent correct if not more most of us have imagined the faces and facial expressions of the charecters in our own way. the serial would destroy that "first love" but i think some of us can get together and produce an audio book with a degree of back ground music.
post it as a mp3 on the net for those who love tamil but cant read or some other reason
