The original nandhi looks pretty much the same like the existing Nandhi. The only difference is, itz 8 feet tall. There are 8 such Nandhis in the gopuram.
Ram, Isn't the nandi near anjaneyar/varahi amman temples (facing north)the original nandi which was in the mandapam, and later moved there by the nayakars? Thilak
I beg to differ It is true that the originally built nandhi was the one on the south side of the temple
But If i am right the present nandhi is also from the the same time frame and not from later dynasties.There is a local legend for the reason why they were swapped.I l let you know soon
