(Old) Madhuranthakan was Nandhini's brother. But the child......?
What I say might be a little disturbing but this is a doubt I have....
When Aditha Karikalan goes to kill Veerapandian, Nandhini says Veerapandian is her lover and HAS AGREED TO MARRY HER. Remember, between Veerapandian's death and Nandhini marrying Pazhuvettaraiyar, there was a time gap which was not mentioned. The child had called Nandhini as his mother. And that child was too young.
Nandhini also speaks to the 'imaginary' head of Veerapandian before her meeting with Karikalan at Kadambur. There are some indications of this there also.
May be these things turned Nandhini into the stark, wily character she was. She also says she found out who her father was only lately.
These are all wierd assumptions but can anybody throw more light on this ?

see there is one thing that when i studied nandhipurathu nayagi i came to know that the term"thalaivi" of pandya abbathuuthavigalie)"NANDINI" was the son of sundara chozha. at one point she send a "oolai"(letter) to arun mozhi mentioning him as "ENN ANBULLA SAGOTHARAN ARUN MOZHIKKU".
Dear all there was no time gap between Veerapandiyans death and Nandhini marrying Pazhuvettarayar....She ran into the chola army when they were trying to cremate Veerapandiyan and Pazhuvettaryar took her with him...
Second When Nandhini and VD have a conversation about the Young ChildVD says They are fooling you with a orphan child claiming its pandyan prince..She doesnt deny it nor does she say its he child
