Arrived kovilpatti n spent close to two hours @ kalugu malai climbing to vettuvankoil, jain relief n the lower muruga cave shrine n structural temple
Then to sankarankoil to see how nayaka tiruppani totally encapsules an old temple
Skipped lunch n raced to malaiyadikurichi...interesting ' siva' cave temple n then the local shivan temple. Insisted on climbing up to see the last remaining vestiages of the earlier temple ( tons of inscriptions plastered over !! And trees growing on the gopura)
Then to the twin caves in thirumalapuram..one finished n other left midway. As we were about to call it quits the asi staff mentioned of a similar cave nearby in veerasigamanipuram .....n so we end day 1
