Me and my friends are planning to go to GANGAIKONDA CHOLAPURAM on this month end 27th or 6th March. We are going by two wheeler, i want to know any other near by places or temples to visit. We are from Pondicherry. If any other places kindly inform me. I am eagerly awaiting for your response.
In later chola period there were number of capitals.
Apart from Gangai Konda Cholapuram, they had Chidambaram, Trichy Samayapuram, Hosur etc.
The Choals shifted their capital from one place to other. Don' t know the reason. They constructed Siva Temple before building/ rising their capital.

Yesterday (27/02/2010) morning We visited the temple AMIRTHAKADESWARAR AALAYAM in Melakadambur. We reached there by 9.30 am but find temple is closed, so we search for Gurukkal house which is on the back side of the temple, he was gone for some another temple for Poojas so waited till 11 am. After our arrival, some one from Chidrambaram and a couple (don't know where they from) joined us. The Gurukkal came and opened the temple and we worship and take some pictures of the temple (i will upload the pictures later). Inside the temple we found a banner which indicates route map for temple. If you have add this to the temple blogspot it will be helpful to reach the temple, as persons who interested like us. (it is just a suggestion).

Note: As per the Gurukkal the temple will be open after 10.00 am (everyday)
