a 1000 yr old temple in CBE
  • Dear all,

I do not know if this was discussed in the forum earlier. but i am proud
that my home town has more old temples like other places historically known
    in Tamil Nadu.

Please pen down your views about after viewing the photos...
  • Sir,

The first photo is the simple board in front of that temple. There is a new
temple constructed in front of this temple and the entrance is pushed
towards the side. The *Hindu Aranilaya Thurai *is looking to the control
work of this temple as the gurukal told me.

I seek your advice for making an in-depth analysis in this, bcos im not that
knowledgeable as great people like you.
  • We see so many renovations happening and at the end spoil the entire setup.

Recent Horrors - Tirunelveli and Takkolam.

My comment is on the way the painting is done.

Please check for epigraphs, photos of the images etc.
that will help to understand the period.
  • Sir,

I will do the same and get back.

This would help me to learn more on how i should study a temple.
  • Dear Madam,

This temple is in the heart of the city only. Ukkadam - opposite to Lakshmi
Narashimhar Temple, in a small cut road. As sir has said i wud try to find
out wen this temple was built etc.. Then i can talk with credentials. Plz
give me time until this forthcoming weekend.
  • is there any history attached to this. I am working on a project documenting all the temples in that area, any info would help.

  • Sir,

i wud try n collect the details.
  • Intrestingly Kongu Cholas 11th-13th had kings by name Karikalan, Rajendran, Kulothungan etc. The sthala puranams also will feature them like Karikala built this temple etc.

There are many interesting epigraphs in temles there.

  • All 3 I have documented, but not the one Kruthika mentions.
    So all the more interesting.
  • Sir

Can you share info on Sarkar periya palayam. Sundarar mentions that as Kongil Kurakkuthali. God name is Sugreevesvara ( Like Valisvara) but epigraphs belong to Pandyas of 12th - 13th. Any images?
  • Ravi Sir,

Have you done with Podanur Chettipalayam - Siva Temple which is linked with
Perur temple as 1 of the 108 Kongu naattu siva temples?
  • Hello Kiruthika,
