Dhritarashtra the blind king possessed the strength of a hundred thousand elephants from a boon he obtained from vyasa. only once did he use that strength. when?
1 After Shishupal's death, Krishna was left with a bleeding finger. Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, had torn a strip of silk off her sari and tied it around Krishna's wrist to stop the flow of blood. how do we remember this event today?
Another trivia - The order of Kaurava's senapathis, served half the time as their predecessor.
Bheeshma - 10 days. Dhrona - 5 days Karna - 2 (half doesnt mean exactly half. 2.5 can be rounded off to 2 and hence we can consider 2 as nearly half of 5 :) ) and Salya 1 day.
I think Malathi wrote yesterday that, she belives Mahabaratham to be pieces of stories grouped as one.
Its impossible for grouping different stories to one with such a good script. I dont think there are any loose ends in the script of mahabaratha, every scene is well blended in the story line and if the story is not written in one piece, its highly improbably to combine group of stories in such a lucid manner.
Another proof that its history and not just a story is, I dont think human mind (atleast in those days) was capable of writing such a screenplay by imagination.
What tradition did Krishna break (which is followed even today all over the world), when he served as the charioteer for Arjuna during the war and whats the reason?
A chaioteer does not take up arms Sri Krishna had to take up chakrayudha in an attempt to slay Bheeshma since Arjuna and other pandavas did not stand up to it. Correcta?
Krsna is the mischief maker, he breaks all rules at all times, even changing date of amavasai etc... In this Q however, Satish says 'even today all over the world' which is the catch... me clueless...
Everyone would've answered!!!! (Jus simpy for my satisfication) 1.Dusalaa(i remember her from Visharadh hindhi text book!!!) 2.he tried to kill bheema as he took oath to kill all gauravas and he killed everyone in the war!!!!
wow, i never knew we had so many ` silent 'members....welcome everyone. for those interest in a day by day account of the kurukshetra war i have added a word file in the files section ( its a large file...but it was a large canvas)...this came as a thread in another forum and had archived it ....enjoy
Hi Everybody, Ohm, Hreem, Vashat! I am Madhu. Mahabharatha questions goes well. I too have questions. 1. What is the meaning of title Peepatsu? To whom it was given? 2. After the Mahabharatha war is over, Krishna returns to Mathura. On the way one Rishi comes and on hearing the details he says " Krihna, it is you behind all this. You could have avoided war and loss of lives. So I am going to curse you. Pidi Sabam" -- Who is this Rishi? How Krishna convinced him? 3. Gita's teachings were previously told to Sri Rama. What was its name? Who teached it to SriRama? Madhu
It is not peepatsu it Bheebatsu - fair fighter, one of Arjuna's names. Sri Rama lectures Bharata in Ayodhya Khanda on Gita-like virtues and this is often called Sri Rama Gita. Adhyatma Ramayana supposedly authored by Veda Vyasa again also has a Gita like discourse from Rama to Lakshmana.
Don't know who is this rishi, Gandhari is the accuser and also gives the shapam which Sri Krishna willingly accepts.
But isn't it true, Satish that there are many digressions: The Ramayana is told, Sakuntala, the antlered boy who lifts the drought, Damayanti, etc. These tales often mirror what takes place in the main story. Kathie > . > >
