Raja Raja Thevar
  • Hi people,

I am not sure whether this also has been discussed in our forum.

Kalki himself in PS manya times mentions Arul Mozhi Varman as Raja Raja
    Thevar.

I do have few friends in that community and when I started to learn more
about them I got confused. They say all put together they are called
Mukkulam (Kallar / Agamudayar / Maravar) I get different explanation for
these names. Among Kallar also there are so many sub castes Eesa Nattu
Kallar / Gandharva Kottai Kallar / Pira Malai Kallar. There is also one more
    group called Servai.

Maharaja of Pudukottai is also from the same community I guess but they have
a surname attached to their name "Thondaiman"

Where did Raja raja Chozhan fit in all these scheme of things?

Has this been discussed earlier. I am ALWAYS late so I am sure that I will
get a one liner from our dear SPS stating that we have discussed this
    already !
  • Thevar was used by kings as they thought representing
    gods to the people.

So Rajaraja Cholan Thevar is mere a title.

    Thank you.
  • Dear Vijay,

    Thanks for the clarification.

I believe a lot has been discussed about this community in the book "KALLAR
SARITHIRAM" written by one NA MU VENKATASWAMY.

Again, I don't know how authentic his research over the subject is. Yellam
solli kelvi pattadhu dhaan. Anyone has read this book already, if so
    comments please.
