• Any idea which temple Manickavasagar wrote tiruvasagam?
Just curious to know the history and all the temples.
I heard TIS has hit markets and it is a great experience.

Was Manickavasagar before PS period? I think it should be.
  • Maanikkavaasagar wrote Thiruvaasagam and
    Thiruchitrambalakkovaiyaar at Thiruperunthurai temple.

I request the permission of the moderator to answer
this question - (this is topic related to PS)

Today is Aani magam (10th July 2005) and this day
happens to be Manikavasagar's Guru Poojai day.

Saint Manikavasagar wrote Thiruvasagam which is a
collection of many padigams at many temples including
    Thiruperunthurai.

As for the period is concerned there are two views.
Some strongly believe that he lived in the 9th
century. There some people who strongly believe and
have some proof that the saint lived before Appar
which they claim to be around 4th century.

Whatever the date be, I belive the Saint lived before
    the begining of PS.
  • Aavudaiyaar Kovil is much associated with Manickavasagar and is tha
place where supposedly Paris were morphed into Nari vice-versa.

Sculpturally one of the most beautifully temples in South India, could
be ranked in the top ten, though not as popular.

There are series of equestrian statues there each rider dressed up in
different fashion. Certainly a pleasure to visit.
  • Aavudaiyaar koil - Not sure about the route, I went from Trichy through
Pudukottai, it is near the sea coast much north of Tuthukudi
  • I think Aavudaiyaar kovil and Thiruperunthurai must be the same
    place. Not sure though.
