    Ancient Sumeria *

    *This is the second talk in the Lecture Series on: "The History of World
    Ancient Languages Scripts" *

    * *

    *Cuneiform writing of Sumeria is the oldest writing known and it is more
    than 5000 years old. Nature pushed them to use a stylus to make
    impression on wet clay and then this is another instance of the creativity
    of the Sumerians. The script came to be adopted for quite a few languages
    in the region. Not only the script is fascinating, but also its
    decipherment. The talk will focus on the peculiar system of writing and on
    the tool and medium, the pioneering work in deciphering the script and
    glimpses from its literature. *
