Kuttalam is 10 Kms from Mayiladuthurai in the bus route of Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai.The main deities in this temple are Ukthavedeeswarar and Parimala Sugandha Nayaki. The sthala vriksham here is the Uttalam tree ( this name was converted as Kuttalam) , which is believed to have been brought from Kailas when Shiva arrived for the wedding.
