Hi Friends, Nestled in the lush green valley and surrounded by three mountain ranges (Vindhya, Maikal and Satpura), Amarkantak is a well known pilgrimage site for the Hindus who go there to worship Narmada river goddess which is considered as scared as the Ganga. It is believed that Narmada and Sone rivers originate from here, however the origin of Sone is contested. Ancient temples of the Kalchuri dynasty are the main attraction for the history lovers. For nature lovers, many gardens, trekking tracks, two waterfalls etc will attract your attention.
Good one Saurabh. Also Adi Shankara met Govinda Bhagavatpada on the banks of Narmada !!! He got his Sanyasa - officially from him !! The cave where Govinda Bhagavatpada was living is said to be in Omkareshwar. Shankara entered the cave and he was questioned who are you and Shankara is said to have burst out with Nirvana Ashtaka-Shivoham - I am Shiva. Thanks...
