The Information Technology department has completed the process of getting email ID ready for the Members of the Legislative Assembly. The e-mail ID scheme will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Tamilnadu MLAs got email address
State Information Technology Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna had announced in the Assembly last May that e-mail ID would be provided to all members so that people could take their grievances to their representatives instantaneously without having to wait for the MLA to visit the constituency or travel to Chennai to meet their representative.
The email ID is of generic nature and has the name of the constituency. It will not have the name of the member of the constituency since the email id is for all MLAs who will represent the constituency from now on.

"There are many instances of MLAs shifting constituencies, or losing, or not contesting at all. Hence, we cannot use the name of the MLA in the email ID," an official told The Hindu.
Dr. Poongothai reviewed works relating to the modalities of the implementation of the scheme at the Secretariat on Monday.
`Smart classrooms'
The need to expand the concept of `smart classrooms' where the teacher uses an interactive electronic board and computer to teach subjects with the help of 3D images and animations to at least 100 schools in the State was also discussed.
School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu is keen that the concept, which aids quicker learning and has very little overheads, be expanded to as many schools as possible this financial year. Each such classroom costs Rs.5 lakh. A school would require two such classrooms.
The Minister also reviewed the progress of works to promote rural BPOs in all districts. A specific policy and implementation process for rural BPOs is in the last stages of finalisation.
