Melacheri - Sri-Sikhari-Pallaveshvaram cave temple
  • Hi Friends,
So unfortunate were we that when we successfully hunted out this place, we found
it locked. It seems that they open this only on few occasions or on some special
request. There was no ASI board as well so no idea if this site is with ASI or
not. Another thing is that I really do not know the site which I visited was in
fact the same cave I was hunting for or some another shrine mistaken as a cave
    by me.
As I have not seen the cave from inside, so this article is fully based upon the
references. However there is an interesting legend of Murugan transferring his
mount from elephant to peacock :).
If anyone has been to this site before, please confirm if this is really
Melacheri cave temple, as I do not want to put up something on net which might
    be wrong.

  • Thanks vj for confirming this, surprisingly I did not find a single plate for
this site in A H Longhurst and K R Srinivasan's book except for the Shiva lingam
of the cell. Was just thinking, those ASI people having all the support and
    capacities yet no picture.
Thanks for the link, but sorry Tamil articles are of no use to me as
unfortunately I do not know Tamil. Will see if I get any Tamil friend here who
can do some translation for me :)
