Mahendravadi - Vishnu temple of Mahendravarman
  • Hi Friends,
Mahendravadi is the Vishnu temple excavated by Mahendravarman I. We may say that
this might be the only one such temple, dedicated to Vishnu, of Mahendravarman,
if we only talk about the caves where his inscriptions are found.
This cave holds an important position in study of Mahendravarman, as to
understand why he excavated a Vishnu temple, when he himself declares turning to
Shiva in his Trichy inscription. You may find more information on this in my
    article, link below.

  • Vishnu Image - May be Painting or Stuco

was there any hesitation initially on Vishnu temples having stone image?.

But Singavaram, Singaperumal and Thirumeyyam ( both the syana and standing perumals) are stone moortis.
