dear kathie, recalling the days when we were in chennai in 1990, the 24 hour broadcast from doordarshan had just started. the fall of soviet union was telecasted in the news programmes. we used to go to american embassy to see the visuals of the scenes of revolution in the former soviet republics and eastern europe.these inland countries have lot of eastern roman traditions and they still bear the memories of the old byzantine empire. yeah, similar to southindia.must be a good experience for a history enthusiast.nice to hear from you after long time!
