Some quick replies :)
  • Hi all,
As most of our members have expressed their views on ongoing hot
topics, I dont want to sound redundunt. So, some quick replies.

Bravo, Sundaram Sir. I really appreciate your attitude towards
changing the social set up. How far it is possible, I dont know-
there are too many factors involved, I think.

Gokul, good one! And thanks for uploading it as a jpg image.

Rajkumar. I am not arguing with you about sanskrit being *divine*.
Sanskrit *is* an ancient language, like Tamil. I am a tamilian by
birth. I love and respect my mother tongue. That doesnt mean I
should dislike sanskrit (eventhough I dont know the language). IMO,
one should know everything about something to completely dislike it.
Getting a 'gut' feeling is different.
I think sanskrit should be given all due respect (as in age), just
like greek and latin are given. Any science major person (why
science, even economics major, ceterius paribus), would know the
extensive use of latin terms. Have the english scholars complained?
Dont they use et cetera too often? My professor is one among the 15
scientists who name new structures identified in the brain of a
bird, and if you have guessed it already, yes, they are all latin
names. And the Egyptian heiroglyphs. Pentagrams and triskelions are
used as models in molecular biology and other ultra-modern hi-tech
scientific research. A good mix of old and new, eh?
And about archanais in tamil/sanskrit. The phonetics come into play
here. There are a lot of research going on around the world to study
chants including the Ku Klux Klan's "ho-ho-ho, ho, ho" (similar to
the one which comes in the interlude of 'othagatha kattiko' song)and
their effects on psych of the person. Vedhams are also a form of
chant (vedic chants). And they supposedly have a good effect when it
comes to phonology of divinity. If you can go back in the PS
archives, there was a thread started by Yagna, same time last year.

Again, I am not arguing. Just my 1.78 (plus tax) cents worth :)

Naren, Touche! Be the annapatchi. All literatures will have good and
bad. Get the best out of them.

    Bye all,
    Thilak
