one request
  • Hi to all,

Last year onwards i read one tamil magazine... In
that .. "the place where rajaraja is sleeping " didnot have any
identification that is like the tamilword "SamAdi". Why our
government didnot give respect to the great tamilian king "Rajaraja
chozha". If it is true...... why not we (especially powerful people
of our group...)try to do that................?? This is only my
    request bcos i'm a new person(like L.K.G)to this group.

    with regards
    sruthi
  • Hi Sruthi,

The exact location where rajaraja is "sleeping" forever cannot be
    identified with certainity.

Probably you might have read about a place called udaiyargudi where
many people believed that rajaraja was finally laid to rest. Our
Ponniyin selvan group members even visited the temple called paal
kulathamman in udaiyargudi which was believed to contain a pillar
which was taken from the cremation mandapa of rajaraja.

Recent visit by historian dr.Kalaikkovan (along with PS group members
kamal and ram) has proved that there is no base to this.

However it is very interesting to think :
    1. Why no pallipadai or other structures were constructed on behalf
    of this great king ?
    2. Usually chola kings were cremated and no doubt rajaraja would have
been cremated too. But where his last remains were buried and why we
do not have any archaeological material / epigraphs to throw any
    light on this ?
We come to know of pallipadais of few queens - panchavan mahadevi,
vaanavan mahadevi etc and kings - arinjaya etc.

But not one for rajaraja or rajandra. Does it not sound strange ?
