Talking about auto drivers.....they are a very interesting lot. No doubt, we know how they over-charge the customers. But seldom do we know how they get harassed by the cops.
Anyway, each time I visit India and travel by taxi or auto I get into conversations with them. It is tough to make them open up, because they don't want to get into trouble. One needs to work on them :-) In Madras, I had an interesting conversation with an auto driver who thought the very high about RWH (rain water harvesting) that a former TN CM ushered (read dictated) in. He was talking about how water have risen in the wells etc.
Once in Hyderabad, I had a cab driver open up and talk about the real estate happenings in around Hyderabad. India is changing so fast. Some of the drivers ask me how much do drivers get paid say in Bangalore or Madras.
