Folks, The problem with the discussion is we are discussing the past with the concepts and terms that originated in the recent past (relatively speaking). The word religion as we come to understand now, thanks to West, is what we apply to our ancient system or school of thoughts.
Coming from the same region - i.e. Indian sub-continent; these system of thoughts & practices always sought to distinguish themselves vs others.
