Adiyen did not wish to insult Chozhas or any other royal dynasty. My point is only that medieval and later Chozhas had no legitimacy to wield power in Tamil Nadu - they merely took the opportunity when the Pandyas and Pallavas (both legitimate dynasties) had exhausted themselves with wars to carve out territory for themselves. Similar to scavengers profiting when two lions battle it out.
The later Chozhas parochialism is also seen in their policies towards religion, diplomacy and international trade. The later Chozha period was certainly a step-back from the cosmopolitan, multi-religious Kanchipuram of the Pallava period. Their conquests in SE Asia also were not well-planned and lacked long-term consolidation. In fact, it is possible that in conquering Kadaram (Kedah) and Savakam (Java), the Chozhas were merely following the foot-steps of the Biddhists and Jain monks who used these routes during the Pallava period.
Even their conquest of Eezham was ill-planned and had no strategic diplomatic goal.
Adiyen's point is that Kalki (with his undeniable genius) has elevated a clan of warring chieftains to the level of sage-kings, which they were not. This is similar to what happened to Ma.Po.Si who elevated a minor satrap called Kattabommu Nayakkan to a major hero known as Veerapandiya Kattabomman. In both these cases, popular media has re-written minor characters into people they never were.
Adiyen's grouse is that the glorious Pallavas who did so much for Tamizhagam have not received their due honor and place.
Kalki did not elevate them the timeframe you chose to have his charectors were in the ascending fortunes of Cholas....Yes Kalki potrays AMV as a great saitly charector but does the same with Narasimha iniially as an youngster but evolves his charector as he goes from pain to pain to strenth to strength.....leading to the vatapi vadam
