With lots of discussions on Rajendra-I going on, it made me wonder if there are any statues or pictures (paintings) of Rajendra-I? I know Rajaraja has a statue. Does Rajendra has? Sorry if this was discussed earlier. Thanks
Panchavan Madevi Pallipadai....at the rear side of the vimanam...there is a figure worshiping a lingam. This temple was built of RJC for Panchavan Madevi...Dr.Kudavayil Balu sir is of the opinion that it is RJC.
Panchavanmadevi was considered of higher status - next only to Danthi sakthi vidangi. Crown queen of RRC.
Her grants are engraved in the following order ::
(1) kundavai (Uma - Sundara - Vanamadevi bronzes) (2) Danthisakthividangi @ Olagamadevi ( also Uma bronze ).(search : olagamadevi. we discussed a lot. Panchavan madevi also we discussed widely). (3)Panchavan madevi. She installed a NATARAJA Bronze known as THANJAI AZHAGAR !! (Prime Aadalvallan by RRC himself).
She survived RRC's last days.
RjC constructed a Pallippadai temple in memory of her... (Step mother).
That is near (1/2 KM west of) Patteswaram Durgai temple in Pazhayarai.
During Mudhalyathirai - in about 2003 - we visited this temple.
