Holi is going to be celebrated on 10th March this year. It seems that Hiranyahsibu asked his sister Holika to destroy Prahaladha, his son who is singing the glory of Narayana instead of his father. But as a result, Holika herself got into fire and nothing happened to Prahalatha because of his bakti towards Narayanan. Thus the holi pandigai is being celebrated in a grand manner. Narahasura vadam is being celebrated as Diwali and the vadam of Holi is celebrated as Holi pandigai.
Masi magam is the grand festival at Kumbakonam, Thanjavur district.mahamagam comes once in 12 years. The important deities of all temples comes to the bank of Mahamaha tank on that day and people from different villages used to come to have holydip in the tank with deities.This year Maham comes on 9th march. The Teppam festival of Tirukoshtiyur soumyanarayana perumal and saptasthanam of of Kanchanur comes on this day.
