Yes. A very good actor and he has one unique distinction which im not sure many know. He was the FIRST person to inform Tamilnadu about India's Independence in 1947!! This was over radio. His voice was one of his greatest strengths. His passing away is a loss to the tamil community as a whole.
Poornam was also the key player in many of Merina/Bharanidharan's brahmin family novels (Thanikudithanam, Kaalkattu..). Poornam was very versatile actor, and people of the 40s/50s generation fondly did remember the voice that announced the dawn of freedom on the early morning of August 15, yes it was Poornam!!
