Have you ever come across power generation or storage from lightning? We had discussed something about thermal-solar-power long back! I searched in google but no useful results I found...

Actor Jim Caviezel has been struck by lightning while playing Jesus in Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion Of Christ. The lightning bolt hit Caviezel and the film's assistant director Jan Michelini while they were filming in a remote location a few hours from Rome. It was the second time Michelini had been hit by lightning during the shoot.- BBC
Dear RV Sir,* "second time Michelini had been hit by lightning "* Those lightning may be very light in itensity (in its measurement), thats why they have got a chance to be attacked second time! In our south districts in every rainy season some people die due to this lightning, you would have noticed...
Lightning: Gradual build up of static electricity, ionisation of air, and sudden explosive discharge; as all nature's furious events, produce both good and bad results.
It may be possible to limit the build up of static charge, by steady draining. Technically feasible, but technology is lacking. I once got a nasty shock in the electrical engineering lab, when I tried to discharge capacitors, after the experiments, with weak cables.
We all have to wait till someone of the stature of John Galt reinvents his 'motor of the world', which converts static electricity to conventional energy.
Hmm.. Vaguely remembering Atlas shrugged, read it around 7 years back. Ayn Rand is well known for her pessimism towards communism and how it can lead to a failed state with no real benefits to the people.
