Thanks. I wish i had climbed right up to the top, though - but only the others did that. :) We did have a great time, though. That trip was a very memorable one.
This was quite a while ago - I'll have to check the travelogues for the dates. :) I believe it was Maalan who (when he heard about our trips into the Chola heartlands) asked us to document every detail for future reference. Yes, we did visit the museum as well - that was in the evening. I always remind myself of Kalki's words about Vaanathi - that she was a curious mixture of melancholy and gaiety, sort of like the dusk itself. The wanderings among the saaram was a weird experience - half the time I felt like I was walking on air. And I still remember the evening on the GKC grounds, when everyone (Dr KK included) sang songs. And oh, also the moonlight experience by the shore temple on the Mallai seashore (that was a separate trip). Sps sir must have fond memories of that one too.
You def ought to make a visit (to the museum). Worth every moment.

You surely hv a way with words. shore temple in moonlight - amazing - but sadly i didnt take any pics those days. now i think they dont allow. sps sir, do you have any pics. the movie maymatham i think - has a lovely song composed with the shoretemple bathed in moonlight.
