  • Wonderful.. thank you Malathi.

And Vinayaga Chathurthi Nalvaazhthukkal to all our members and their
    family / friends!

Reminds me of THIRUPURAMBIYAM :: where our PS story line introduces
    Ravidasan & co..,

Here the PILLAYAR is known as THENKUDITHA VINAYAGAR @ PRILAYAM KAATHA
    VINAYAGAR .. (Putru vinagar).

On the Vinayaga chathurthi day (tmrw - 3rd Sept), about 100 Tones of
HONEY will be POURED as Abhishegam - and the entire Honey will go
    inside the deity !

Ganapathi Agraharam (near Kabisthalam / Kumbkm) :: No one performs
offering of KOZHUKKATTAI in their name.. It is a COMMUNITY function
over here. all the villagers bring their home-made Kozhukkattai to
the Temple, offer to the deity and share !

Swetha Vinayagar @ Thiruvalanchuzhi : " Kadalnurai" Vinayagar.
small, yet powerful and historically important deity.

Achirupakkam : siva's Chariot axle broken since he failed to take
congnisance of Vinayagar, in his hurry to destroy the Tripurantakas !

Gangaikonda Vinayagar at Nageswarar temple Kumbakonam : victory
trophy by Rajenda - I on Ganges expedition.

Kanakku (@ KANAGA .. RECALL kanaga vijayar - northern Kings conquered
by Senguttuvan) Vinayagar : Near Gangai Konda chozhapuram - Bengal
    Vinayagar - victory Trophy

Vaatapi Ganapthi - thiruchengotangudi by Paranjoti @ Siruthondar
(though it does not appear to be of Chalukya origin, though in
Sivagamiyin Sabatham it is mentioned so)

Aadhi vinayagar :: Thilatharpanapuri (recall vaaram oru aalayam by
    Nataraj)

and of course OUR PILLAYAR PATTI.. very ancient Vinayagar ~!

Vinayagar worship is the easiest : use flowers , leaves (including
Erukkai - arugampul) and fruits (native vilampazham !)..

It also depicts HUMAN's LOVE & RESPECT to the NON-HUMAN !

    Recall Seerkazhi's " Vinayagane vinaitheerpavane .. " every green
    song ... !

    Greetings, sps
  • Hi sps,

yes.. this pullayar is my favorite and first known god!

When i was small i used to take (steal) any small pullayar figures when my parents take me to some relatives house etc....i was mad on pullayar!

My first pullayar was "suttadhu" from my uncle when i was in pre-kg! still today he comments on that! :)

P.S: i dont steal pullayar anymore! so dont be afraid!

  • Dear SPS
thanks so much, too, for your list of Vinayagar murthi.
I'm always looking for lists to add to my database.

  • Vanakkam.

ARU Padai Veedu for Vinayagar : I have read somewhere.

Let me recall a few - not in any order.
    KaLLa VaaraNa PiLLaiyaar - Thirukadaiyur
    MukkuRuNi Vinayakar - Madurai
Dundi GaNapathy - Kashi (doubtful !)

Am not very sure of the others. Remember having read this near the
Vinayakar Sannidhi at Thirukadaiyur (Thirukadavur) (and in some
book/magazine also later). Sorry, am not able to give full info.
  • Vanakkam

    அனைவருக்கும் வினாயகர் சதுர்த்தி நல்வாழ்த்துகள்
Wish you all happy vinayagar sathurthi

In my blog I have added few Ganapathi agraharam photos, I was allowed to
take only the wooden sculptures in that temple, to see that please follow
    this link http://svprsk.blogspot.com/2008/09/ganapathi-agraharam.html

This Ganapthi agraharam temple Ganapathi was installed by agathiyar. When
there was a famine in the world Gouthama maharishi prayed this ganapthi.
After the special pooja by him Ganapathi bestowed wealth to the world. This
temple is located 9km from thiruvaiyaaru enroute to swami malai.
