Traditional greetings
  • We have standardised the greetings for all occassions - happy
srijayanthi, deepavali, new year, pongal etc. and have stopped using
occassion specific grand ones. I can remember a few. Hope this list ill
    expand.

    1. Ganga snanam aachcha(diwali)
    2. Kutti Kannan vandachcha (sri jayanthi)
    3. Deerga ayushman bhava
    4. Chiranjiviya iru
    5. VaLamodu vazh
    6. Pathinarum petru peru vaazhvu vaazh
    7. Gud bhol, ghod bhol (speak sweetly, truly, shankaranthi)

I remember every festival and occassion had specific greetings.

As trainees, in cold winter, in the first shift at 6 am, we were content
to exchange limp handshakes, than to say 'good morning' or such
    platitudes.
