We have discussed this earlier. 7 Pallakku ( each made with thanjavur coloured small glass work) is famous festival. The pallakku starts from Thiruvaiyaru (located on the North of Cauvery, visits Sapthasthanams - 7 temples like Thiruppazhanam, thiruchotruthurai, thurkkolili, thiruchitrambalam - terminate at Thirukknaidyur on the South of Cauvery and all the 7 pallakkus go to Thiruvaiyaru back (almost a day - night long festival )!
Krishnaleela Tharangani fame Narayana Theerthar (saying that there was another Theertha Narayana !) samadhi is in thiruppoonthuruthi!
